President Obama's Complex New COBRA Rules the Subject of Hugely Popular New Educational Seminar

SCHAUMBURG, IL (March 6, 2009) – Assurance Agency, based in Schaumburg, IL, is hosting an educational seminar titled “Stimulus Legislative Update: New Subsidy Regulations”. The seminar, which will be held on March 24, 2009, has already attracted the registration of over 50 local business leaders in just 3 days. Assurance has added a second session for this seminar on the same day due to popular demand, and is prepared to add additional dates to satisfy the interest of the local business community.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 recently signed into law by President Obama, contains provisions which impose substantial new legal obligations on employers. In this seminar, attorney Larry Grudzien and Assurance’s Employee Benefits Practice Leader Liz Smith will explain the important provisions taking effect. These provisions include the extended period of time required to offer employee benefits, complex changes to COBRA, how much businesses are required to pay, and how they will be reimbursed through income tax withholding or payroll tax liability. In addition, there will be a special focus on how to update COBRA election notices and other communications.

Professionals interested in attending can sign up via the Assurance website at www.assuranceagency.com/seminars or by calling 847.463.7171. Space is extremely limited and registration is required. Business leaders are encouraged to sign up immediately for admittance.
